Glass spider

Story time at the Brazee glass studio is such a great way to spend the afternoon. The Doll was able to make two insects to take home and two to put in the kids exhibit for later this summer. She let daddy take one to his work and he sent us this funny picture.

Fishing with family

The Doll wanted to keep all the fish as pets. We ended up letting her play in the minnow bucket:)

Egg hunt 4-7

Spring! with everything so green,

A splendid morning of fresh soft dew.

I have my basket and my eyes are ready

To gather some friends and hunt for an egg or two.

cp

Just a loving surprise that first Easter morning when the ladies went to the tomb to find it was empty. What is the point of the Easter Egg hunt at church? some say it's to remind us of how the stone was rolled away. Other's think of the dyed eggs(even though they are plastic now a days) should remind us of how Jesus' blood covers our sin. Some might like to think of how we should invite our neighbors to church for a fun time. Another view is that the eggs represent new life and Jesus came to give us new life in Him. There can be a lot of discussion and correlation on what is the point of the Easter egg hunt, I do hope when you and your family attend an 'egg hunt' you remember why we have a reason to celebrate~Jesus willingly gave his life for us so that we may have true life, an everlasting life.

Easter cookies

After a day at the aquarium we spent the afternoon making some very sweet Easter cookies to give for gifts. Lola's girlfriend was excited to help too. Some were decorated with outlines and some were done in a simple crisscross of frosting. If you have a ton of cookies to decorate just lay them out like sooo and hold the icing bag over the top and draw lines in one color one way and then change colors and line direction. This saves lots of time decorating and they still turn out really sweet and precious.:)mmm sugar cookies

On another note. Don't you just love tulips, any other time of the year I think of how sweet and colorful they are, but at Easter I always remember the parallel of how tulips should remind of us of Jesus bursting from the dark cave and bringing us new life. A miracle and a gift

Blackberry jam

We had some company yesterday that gave a very convincing speech on how easy it was to make blackberry jam. So since blackberries were on sale we decided to give it a try. First, gather all your materials. Second, read the box for the easy recipe. Third, mix it up.Finally, either pop it in the freezer for the freezer recipe or boil it to seal the cap. We even used slightly less sugar than what the easy recipe called for and it turned out pretty tasty. The jam smelled so good. It was fun and easy and the Doll enjoyed the jam so we will most definitely be making many more flavors as the summer heat produces the berries:)

Garden

Our Spring project is a garden to cover the swamp piece of the yard. Every time it rains, this side of the yard is just a marsh. So step one: build a box for the garden. Step two: order 5 cubic yards of dirt. Step three: haul dirt to box. Step four:  rake out to level. It took a couple of days, but we are very happy and excited to have fresh produce later this summer. Some of the plants we have started as seeds, like corn, cauliflower, peppers, carrots, and  onions.

Story time music

Shaker eggs, Rhythm sticks, and Jingle bells~ now who wouldn't enjoy a half hour of that? We just always have a fun time at the library. They offer such great fun things for the children.

Zoo with friends

We spent some time with our friends at the zoo and almost rode the train. It turns out that trains have to be serviced every once in a while. The expressions on their faces were quite opposite this photo when we had to deboard the train. We found a caterpillar to that was passed around, that was fun. The bug house was fun because some of the bugs had little baby bugs.
