Swim date

Lola had some friends from church come over for the holiday. We cooked some burgers and mac&cheese. What a great way to spend a sunny day in California, splashing around the pool. Lola looked soo cool with her curls from the night before and the glasses were just the perfect accessory.[gallery columns="4"]

hanging out for the long weekend

We hung around the house for the long weekend. Lola helped to snap some beans one night.  I love this picture of her snapping the beans because we caught the dr pepper commercial in the back ground.. funny....I rolled her hair in curlers to give her some cute curls. Great to just relax.

Jeep Project

After 6 years of getting rained on and getting abused the carpet in the Jeep had to go. To replace it I went with Monsterliner, a do it yourself roll on bedliner that was very highly recommended on JeepForum. It was only about $100 for a gallon and went on very easily. Day 1 we stripped the interior completely and cleaned it with soap and water and acetone. Day 2 involved taping up the edges and plugging the important holes, then painting. Day 3 it rained and we couldnt get the seats back in so the liner had a long time to cure. Saturday moring we put the interior back in and it was good to go.

It's a Celebration

It is what it is

My Favorite thing is to Swing!

Swinging is Lola's favorite thing. She enjoys going to any park that has a swing and just swing forever. Today was a nice warm day in California, so Lola thought it would be a good day for the park and a swing.

birthday face painting

[gallery columns="2"]

In the parenting magazines there are always advertisements to have fairy's or princesses or pirates or whatever character to hire to come to birthday parties. I've been curious to see how good they are. Well, at this birthday party we went to this weekend they had one of the fairies come. She did a great job. She did face painting and did a small magic show. She also made balloon animals. The kids all really enjoyed her. We made her a little apron and gave her some playdough animal shape stuff. Lola had a great time and is really getting excited about planning her 4th birthday.

Cook Like a Champ

It is widely known that Prewitt cooking is one of the wonders of the world, and being down here with my brother has given us plenty of time to explore cuisine and yet there is this stock-pot the size of my head sitting around that I have not cooked in yet. Homework: find a recipe to use this monster stock-pot and blow the socks off of people with flavor.

Monkeying around

[slideshow]We took Kiku to Lola's favorite place to climb and jump and met up with her girlfriend too. Kiku was enjoying all the loud kids and learning to cross the rope bridges. Lola could stay all day but they only sell the time by the hour. After playing there we went over to Lola's girlfriends for lunch and to feed the ducks. All the girls had a great time. On the ride home they both fell asleep so mommy grabbed her book and read in the car so they could finish sleeping. Man, were they tired. When they woke up we fed our 'pet blue bird' some peanuts and played with the Dumbo bubble blower. Lola is wearing a new Indian dress that Kiku's grandma sent. She really loves it; we had to go to the store to get some shoes to match it.

fishing with Kiku

It's got my toe! Lola is sporting a lovely pentecost flame she made in Sunday school and her red riding hood cape. Kiku is figuring out how to fish too. It's fun having a little one Lola can play with. Later we went to Daddy's softball game and then Lola was out for the count.

My momma's eyes

I have my momma's eyes they tell me
I think they're fine to have and see
Two green eyes I have, I think they'll do
But mom says when I was born they were blue
I like to look at flowers and see the ocean waves
& see my daddy in the morning and whether he has shaved
Watching the stinky monkeys swing from tree to tree

seeing my reflection in the mirror when I'm dressed like a princess

My Girl

This is the day that the Lord has made
Surely I would not think to trade
A perfect or rainy or a tiresome minute
when I know that there'll be a blessing in it

Pismo Beach

Grammy was in LA for a week and asked if we could meet half way. So we headed down the 101 and ended up meeting at Pismo Beach. What a cute little beach town. It had a long wooden pier and a nice sandy beach. Lola found a lot of cool shells including a couple of whole sand dollars. She made sand angels and we bought a huge lolipop at the candy store on the tourist strip. It was windy when we first arrived but the wind died down and it was a very nice day at the beach. The ZoO!

Fun, what's another word for fun?.. It's hard to describe the fun we have when we go to the zoo. Kiku was very excited to see the Giraffes. Lola is telling her in one picture that the animals go in the pin, not little girls.[gallery]

Let's look at books

Let's look at books together. Lola's girlfriends & their brother came to play. We had a good time playing and at some point they were all sitting together reading books. It was kind of magical to see all the five kids from 1-4 years old looking at books together.

Boyfriend reads her a book!

Wow! How amazing is it that Lola's boyfriend can read her the Bob books. It was sooo sweet to watch her listen to him read to her. I loved it. Hopefully, this is the begining of her being more interested in learning too. She has been telling me that she doesn't want to learn to read because she wants me to always read to her.

Painting

Watercolors are a great way to spend a half hour in the afternoon. The girls get such enjoyment from the sweet pictures they make. Lola is good at telling me what her is in her drawing.

Getting ready for the show

There's a few weeks left before the girls have their show and they are working hard. It's fun to watch them practice. Checking out their moves in the mirror is so cute.

teaching Kiku to city fish

Lola is such a great friend to our little girlfriend Kiku.  She wants her to learn everything that she knows how to do. Here she is teaching her to play fishing.

Sleeping through softball

We started playing softball with the church so Lola happily tags along. One night Lola fell asleep on the way to the ball park and slept through the whole game wrapped up in our picnic blanket. Most nights she is an awesome cheerleader but not tonight.

Playing Princess

How time flies when one is wearing a fluffy princess dress,

the whole house becomes a castle with just a little mess.

I wonder what princesses dress up as when they play?

Do they twirl around in tutus and dance the day away?

Great America and bear cake

[gallery columns="2"]

While mommy was busy making a cake for her girlfriend who just had a baby, Lola and daddy went over to great america to ride some rides. The bear cake turned out perfect, however, it did not make the trip down to foster city so well. It ended up being a decapitated bear:( oh well, it still tasted good.

Happy Mother's Day

What a sweet girl/ husband I have. For Mother's Day, they had been working on a big surprise all week. They went to a pottery place and made me a sweet kitty and a vase. Lola even made me a card secretly. It was very adorable. And for dessert Virgil had made a homemade cheesecake with fresh raspberry sauce. tasty![slideshow]

Happy Hallow

Happy Hallow was a fun place to spend a day. We met one of Lola's girlfriends there for the day. Man, did they have fun! There are so many rides that are just the right size for them. And a bunch of animals to check out. All the girls had fun digging in the sand at the dinosaur hunt area. [slideshow]

Reading to Kiku

Lola and I have been sharing our days with a little girl named Viveka, but everyone calls her Kiku. Lola acts like she's her big sister. She lets her play with most of her toys, she reads stories to her, she shares her lunch with her and they wrestle around giving each other rasberries and giggling. How fun it is to see them play so well.

pretend ice skating

After going to see Disney on ice a few months ago, Lola has been reenacting the scenes on her "ice rink". She clears off her pink rug and puts on those roller skates. Then she pretends to get ready for the show. Once she's ready she'll zoom around telling the story and sometimes singing some of the songs. She makes new combinations of characters too. Recently they haven't even been from Disney, like Fivel comes to America. She is amazing at retelling the stories. Maybe we should sign her up for acting.
