Southern Lights at Kentucky Horse Park

We had dinner at Granny's and on the way home we went through the Southern Lights show. Lola had never been. Her favorite lights were the horse race and Peter Pan. Mom liked the twelve days of Christmas. Dad liked the last one with Santa and all the reindeer.  It was lovely way to end our Christmas Day.

Pixie's Queen of the snow pile

The last of the snow is where you'll find our little pup. She really likes the snow and is frequently found sitting atop the last remaining pile:) It's pretty funny.

Homemade ornaments

We used a salt dough recipe to make some Christmas tree ornaments. It's always fun to see how the Doll creatively decorates them.

Eric pops over before his flight

We were able to see Eric for a couple of hours before his flight back to Denver. We had made a tortilla soup and so after lunch, we opened his Christmas presents. He was pretty excited about the new cookbooks and cooking pot. Lola was pretty excited to get to see him:)

Spanish class Christmas party

Our Spanish teacher had us over for a fun Christmas party. We decorated ornaments and played piƱata, and had homemade hot chocolate and churros! Fun fun! Feliz Navidad.

Holiday Train Show

After we finished our science class we headed over to check out the holiday trains and stuff. We liked the lego science museum and the huge glittery castle.

Homeschool Day at the Museum Center

What a great time we had at the science project day! There were 5 tables with each focused on different  topics. One was on sound, one was one light, one was on motion, one was on water (bubbles) one was on hmm, well we can't remember:) I like that they always have worksheets for the children to take home to review the concepts.
Sound experiment- Sound needs air to travel

Light experiment- seeing through the different filters

Baby Jesus in the zoo

We have had to move the lizard from the office so we can add the heat lamp since it's been pretty chilly in the office. Now Baby Jesus is in between the birds and the reptile. Usually the mountain lion Pepper is peering over the ledge:)

Old Kentucky Christmas @First Church of Christ

A free community fun place to spend time remembering what it would have been like in the old days:)
There were old time games and wool cleaning and candle making and cookie decorating and of course the lovely horse drawn carriage ride. They also had a sweet live nativity.

Staying on Task

Staying on Task in December can be pretty hard with all the distractions of the Holiday Season. We have a lot of other things to get done besides school. New Christmas music in Piano, her solo practice for the Christmas eve service and all of Advent counting activities (Jesse Tree, Manger scene, sticker chart:). Pixie doesn't seem to notice all the extra, she just chews on her little bones.

First grown up play

An adventure around the world in 80 days! What a fabulous job the Ensemble Theater did with this show. It was so good and funny! Lola was excited to see that her old drama teacher was one of the characters (not shown:) What fun!

Breakfast in Bethlehem

Our Church has a Breakfast in Bethlehem each year and the children can dress up in costume and have their picture taken with the manger. It's fun for the children to be in fellowship for this special time of the year. They also have a craft and a story for the kids. This year mom helped with the story telling.
