Pumpkins are so cool. We love going to pick our pumpkins to carve for Halloween. Delights fo the day-all the fall colors in the flowers and squashes, the smell of earth, crunchy corn husks, hot apple cider, going on a bumpy hay ride.
We had dinner at one of our friends house as a kind of going away party for Virgil who has switched companies. Yeah!- an excuse to make a new dessert:)
Swing is still this girls favorite part of the park. She even likes standing up on it.

Like any other school we like to take our homeschool group on field trips now and then. So today we headed over to Happy Hallow where they were having a unique scarecrow building activity. The clothes you brought to make the scarecrow with would be donated to charity. (Assuming someone washed them later after having the straw in it:) My friend thought of making a pregnant Scarecrow. It was great fun! The kids had a great time riding all the rides and petting the farm animals at the petting zoo part.
The children were very curious of our discussion about bones. Our game was a review of what animals had skeletons, exoskeletons, and no skeletons. We sang the Head bone connected to the neck bone song. We made skeleton puppets. My friends husband had some bones we could play with too. Very interesting lesson for October.
The thing Lola likes most at gym is the trampoline. She has learned so many different jumps and then talks about them all week until she goes back. She also tries really hard to do all the things the teachers ask of her.
It’s amazing watching the girls grow up. They both have so much hair now and such a great time talking with each other. Oh how the time flies.
Some of the Sweetest times of our day is watching Lola turn into different characters. She has such a wonderful imagination and memory too. She likes to act out movies and has such a great mind for the details of events. It surprises me sometimes of how her mind works.
The Disney store has about once a month or so a fun activity for the kids where they usually at least get a color sheet for coming in. Today they had a costume parade and dance party. Since it was kinda later in the day the girls both fell asleep on the way home:)

As we headed back to California following the ceremony at the cemetary, we saw the most beautiful sunset in the western Oklahoma sky. So thankful for the curtain to be closed with such a peaceful glimpse into heaven.

Grandpa Randall needed some help making some peanut butter cookies so Lola helped him mix up a batch. Cookies are always a great idea!
When we took out the Halloween decoration last week, Lola has been eyeing the Halloween sprinkles. She’s been wondering when are we going to make some cookies Or When can I eat those colored sugar little ghosts and pumpkins.... So we made time today to make some sugar cookies. ... Would anyone like some advice on cutout sugar cookies... Once you have the dough mixed up, roll it out between two pieces of wax paper, then stick the wax paper with the cookie dough flattened into the freezer for a couple of minutes. Once it’s kinda solid but not frozen take back out and punch out the cookies. For years I used the flour method of cutting out. But it’s so messy and the dough is so sticky it would always stick to the cutters, especially the detailed ones like giraffes or airplanes. So now we do it this way and the cookies turn out great! Sometimes it’s just too nice of a day and we just have to go to the beach and put our feet in the sea. For those of you who need a nice place for fall break, let me know we have a spare room:) Standing next to the edge of the world, as it seems, reminds us of how well we are taken care of in this journey of life.
