Traveling by Rail to meet Santa was a new adventure for us. We took the Big South Fork Railway to have a chance to chat with Santa. She really enjoyed the train ride, and was especially excited to have a chat with the jolly old elf:)
Opening Day at Perfect North was just lovely. With my sister visiting, it was nice to get a little date night squeezed in:) We hadn't been skiing for 10 years. How fun it was!
Exploring what you have at hand. Time to be creative is so important. I've been enjoying recently using the availability for free thinking and using one's imagination. She came up with this all on her own. The last one is a snow castle complete with many original snow flakes.
For November we have been learning about different lifestyles of the Native Americans. Lola made a great example of a village with a creek and fishing net and horse from scratch, based on the Nez Perce tribe. It's fun to see how creative she can be with the time available to her for social studies.
How exciting for The Doll to take care of a real live doll. She has made lots of arrangements and sorted out some of her old toys for her little cousin to play. She is really happy to see her again!
It was a great fall day to go hiking for some bug spotting. The spotting took awhile to find the first one but we did seem to find our share of mysterious little bugs. Fall seems to have set some of the bugs into hibernating:)
We noticed at the local elementary school they were having an open house for parents and decided we should have an open house too:)
It was fun to plan things for Lola to show her Dad and Aunt Nichie. We did a brief explanation of our day. We showed some art she made and a science report. It was really fun to see what she chose to talk about from her learning perspective. I think we will do an end of year open house too:) It went really well.
It was a lovely time to watch little Lynora have some birthday cake and open her gifts. She seemed so joyful about her new dolly. She just smiled and kissed it:) The little girls dressed up and made the party so sweet!
I love playing the part of Auntie:) It was just a treat to make her a half a cake:)
